Spent the week beating up the comic-book-store-pro theme by by Theclassictemplates(Theclassictemplates.net). To say that I am not impressed would be the nicest thing I can say about this theme.  It’s apparently no longer supported, but you can still purchase it.I do not recommend this theme unless your gonna rewrite the code your self. It’s a disaster.

The demo importer no longer works. It’s taken me two days of adjusting my server settings to allow a script to run for over 900 seconds, and modifying MySQL, and modifying WordPress to get it to run at all. Then I had to customize the code to deal with outdated code to get it to work (mostly). There’s still an issue that the demo site is missing a whole directory of images, the advanced search script which is required is missing, and there’s a few other files missing.  I’ve managed to customize enough to get the site closer to where I want it, and I’ll have to use other plugins or custom code what I still need.

Woo-Commerce is up and running, and I added all the timer apps from 2020. I added some of the demo games we made back in 2020, but not all of the HTML playable files are setup yet. I’ll work on that next week.

So notes to self:
The WP Errors are because the function no longer accepts a third parameter as an array. Comment out the arrays and those couple of errors are resolved.

The timeout errors you have to change your script execution times. My server needed about 900 to 1000 seconds to finish the import once all the errors were dealt with, so update your configs for PHP, Apache, and WordPress.

Next we had MySQL timeouts because of the length of time it took to run the scripts, edit your MySQL config to accommodate the longer connection times, and allow more connections.

The last error we ran into was about the “gallary” directory being missing and the images can’t be loaded. Yes it’s spelled just like that in the code, with an “a” not an “e”.  No the directory doesn’t exist spelled correctly either. It’s missing. I have no idea where to find it. If you find it let me know please.

The other issue we ran into is the “advanced-search-results.php” script is missing and it’s required. At this point I was sick of the theme so I just copied the search.php to advanced-search-results.php because that would stop the require errors, and will cause different ones down the line, but at least everything is loading now.

I really really wish there was a better option available and I hadn’t wasted my money buying this template.
