Ok for today’s discussion we continued the previous prompt and asked ChatGPT to schedule out the tasks both for the images and for the game dev portions. We did not tell it what parts are already completed, so it’s assuming the whole project needs to be created.
Assumptions
- 1 work session = 2 hours
- Game Dev Sessions: Monday–Friday (5/week)
- Art Sessions: Monday, Wednesday, Friday (3/week)
- No work on weekends
- Tasks split into game dev vs art
Step 1: Estimate Time Per Task
Game Development Tasks
| Task | Est. Sessions (2 hrs each) |
|---|---|
| Godot Timer Setup / Scene Skeleton | 2 |
| Timer Script & HUD integration | 2 |
| Tower AI & Bonus System | 3 |
| Enemy & Obstacle Setup | 2 |
| Word Count Fetcher (WordPress API) | 2 |
| Tower Bonus Integration / Testing | 2 |
| Gamification (particle effects, milestone rewards) | 3 |
| WordPress Plugin: Word Count endpoint | 2 |
| WordPress Plugin: Scene/Chapter Publish endpoint | 2 |
| Integration Testing Godot ↔ WordPress | 3 |
| UI & HUD Polish (buttons, progress bars) | 2 |
| Export / Deployment (HTML5/Desktop/Mobile) | 1 |
Total Game Dev Sessions: 26 sessions (~52 hours)
Art Tasks
| Task | Est. Sessions (2 hrs each) |
|---|---|
| Tower Concepts & Base Sprites | 3 |
| Tower Animation Spritesheets | 3 |
| Enemy / Obstacle Sprites | 3 |
| Environment Backgrounds / Tiles | 3 |
| HUD / UI Icons & Buttons | 2 |
| Particle / Effect Sprites | 2 |
| WordPress Plugin Assets (dashboard, chapter thumbnails) | 2 |
Step 2: Calendar Layout
Weekday Schedule
- Monday: Game Dev + Art
- Tuesday: Game Dev
- Wednesday: Game Dev + Art
- Thursday: Game Dev
- Friday: Game Dev + Art
- Sat/Sun: Off
Step 3: Schedule Game Dev + Art Tasks (Example Timeline)
| Week | Monday (Dev + Art) | Tuesday (Dev) | Wednesday (Dev + Art) | Thursday (Dev) | Friday (Dev + Art) |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Timer Scene Skeleton | Timer Scene Skeleton | Timer Script & HUD | Timer Script & HUD | Tower AI base + Tower Concepts |
| 2 | Tower AI continued | Tower AI continued | Tower AI continued + Tower Animation | Enemy / Obstacle Setup | Tower Animation + Enemy Sprites |
| 3 | Enemy / Obstacle Setup | Word Count Fetcher | Word Count Fetcher + Environment | Tower Bonus Integration | Environment + HUD/UI Icons |
| 4 | Tower Bonus Integration | Gamification Systems | Gamification Systems + Particle Effects | Gamification Systems | Particle Effects + WordPress Plugin Assets |
| 5 | WordPress Plugin: Word Count Endpoint | WordPress Plugin: Scene Publish | Integration Testing | Integration Testing | Integration Testing + Export / Deployment |
- Art sessions are M/W/F, interleaved with game dev:
- Towers, enemies, environment, UI, particles, WordPress icons
- Each session = 2 hrs
Step 4: Duration Estimate
- Game Dev: 26 sessions ÷ 5 sessions/week ≈ 5.2 weeks (~5–6 weeks)
- Art: 18 sessions ÷ 3 sessions/week ≈ 6 weeks
Overall Project Completion: ~6 weeks total, because art sessions are slightly fewer per week than dev sessions, so art extends slightly beyond first week of dev.
Step 5: Notes
- Parallel Work: You can overlap simple art tasks with dev testing to optimize time.
- Buffer: Add 1–2 extra weeks as contingency for debugging, tweaking, or unexpected delays.
- Optional Acceleration: 1 extra session/day (if available) can shorten total time by 1–2 weeks.
✅ Summary Calendar
- Project Length: ~6 weeks
- Dev Sessions: 2 hrs/day, M–F
- Art Sessions: 2 hrs/day, M/W/F
- Weekend: Off
- Completion Target: 26–28 game dev sessions + 18 art sessions = fully functional Godot + WordPress timer app with NPC towers and gamified assets.
Well that’s a super tight time line and if I could use an ai to help generate the art I might be able to get there, since I’ve already written timer apps and have code examples, and I’ve already made most of this tower game. The word press functionality I haven’t done in years so that’s basically new(ish) to me and might take longer than predicted. I also have health issues like migraines, that drastically effect my ability to focus and complete tasks. So it’ll be an interesting project.
Tomorrow we will see what kind of detailed plan ChatGPT can come up with to break down the work into a usable schedule.
