Girl Scout Cookies 2020

FAQ:

Your reward bundles include Girl Scout Cookie donations; why are you supporting the Girl Scouts cookie sales?

Our troop 80361 in North East Ohio has over 600 cookies remaining to sell or donate.   (March Update)

Why are you supporting the Girl Scouts in general?

Girl Scouts provide a fun, educational, and safe place for girls to have fun and learn.  Girl Scouts has recently expanded to include computer sciences and computer game design and programming in their technology badge collection. We would like to support that change and encourage more activities involving game design, game programming, and technology.

Why are you supporting the Girl Scouts in this particular way?

Our girl scout helped create the game.  She designed the 13 different creatures and helped design the backgrounds. She helped brainstorm and refine the concepts, and then helped design the game requirements. While we did most of the programming she participated in each step of the creation of the game. She has helped test the game, identify bugs, and even helped troubleshoot and resolve them.

She would like to now help her fellows in her troop and the local service unit,  recover from the Stay At Home order and the Cookie Booth struggles in any way we could. The rewards bundle was her idea, and the discount is her contribution (or percentage of the earnings).  She is very proud to participate with her Girl Scout Troop and wants that opportunity to continue for herself and for others in our local community.

How can I donate directly to the girl scouts instead of a reward bundle?

The digital cookie sales pages are still active and accepting donations at this time (May 29th). As long as the area council allows the page to remain open for donations you can donate directly to the troop, our girl scouts individual page is here:  https://digitalcookie.girlscouts.org/scout/kaida31169

In the event that there are more donations than the troop needs to cover activities and cookie losses for the 2020 year.  The Troop and Troop leaders reserve the right to donate the funds to the local service unit  (GSNEO  Service Unit #803) to cover activities or cookie losses for the 2020 year.

In the event that there are more donations than the service unit needs to cover activities or cookie losses for the 2020 year, the service unit (GSNEO  Service Unit #803) and service unit leaders reserve the right to donate any remaining funds to other service units or troops in NE Ohio to help them recover as well. The service unit will work with the NE Ohio Girl Scout Council to complete this task.

In the event that there are more donations than the NE Ohio troops need to cover activities or cookie losses for the 2020 year, the NE Ohio Girl Scout Council will accept the remaining donations, and the money will be reserved for expanding and hosting technology-based girl scout activities. In 2019 and 2020 the offering for technology-based activities was limited and costly, any additional funds will go towards offering more events, and at a lower cost to the troops.

You can check our website after the first two weeks of the game being available for sale (http://kidshideaway.net/girl-scout-cookies) for updates on the donations and confirmation of amounts donated to each troop or the service unit. There is a 2 week minimum delay between your purchase of a reward bundle and when our business is paid through itch.io, so the donations will experience the same delay.  If the girl scouts troop and other local troops run out of cookies the donation will convert to a “cookie donation” to the local service unit to promote more activities in the local county (Ashtabula).
